How it works

One conversation, three ways.

Every Glot conversation holds two languages, one for each side. Choose them when you start; from then on each person speaks and reads their own. Whoever starts signs in, nobody else needs an account, and there is nothing to install.

Talk

One phone between you.

Set it on the table and talk. Glot listens to you both.

One phone, with a browser and a microphone.

See Talk in motion
  1. Open Glot in the browser on your phone, sign in, and start a conversation.
  2. Choose each person's language: one of you speaks one, the other speaks the other. The picker lists every language in its own name.
  3. Put the phone between you and talk. Each message appears in the reader's language, with the words as spoken small beneath, and the translation is spoken aloud. Turn the far half round for a face-to-face layout, so you each read your side the right way up.
  4. End it when you are done. A conversation costs its length in minutes, whatever is said.

Duo

Every phone in the room.

Show a code. Each phone that scans it follows in its owner's language.

Two phones. The second needs only a camera and a browser.

See Duo in motion
  1. Start a conversation as for Talk, then open Two phones. Your phone shows a code.
  2. The other person scans it with their camera. The conversation opens in their browser, with nothing to install and no account, and they choose the language they read in.
  3. Talk as you would. Each phone follows in its owner's language, as text: with the phones side by side nothing is spoken aloud, so one phone's voice is never picked up and translated again by the other.
  4. The conversation's minutes are counted once, to the person who started it. Nobody else pays anything.

Meet

Face to face, a world apart.

Share a link. Everyone joins the call and follows in their own language.

A laptop or a phone each, with a camera, in a browser.

See Meet in motion
  1. Start a meeting, on a laptop or a phone, and choose its two languages.
  2. Share the link. Anyone who has it joins from their browser, with no account and nothing to install, and picks which of the two languages is theirs.
  3. Talk on camera as in any call. Beside the faces, the conversation runs in each person's own language, and the translation is spoken aloud.
  4. Any number of people can join, and the meeting costs its length once, to whoever started it, however many are in it.
